The conclusions from the Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada are pretty obvious: (1) not many blogs have ads, yet; (2) 52% of readers say they trust blogs; (3) blogs could eat into paper and online newspaper ad revenue; and (4) there is still much opportunity to create branded, credible blogs.
Obviously I am trying to create a branded, credible blog about mining. We have no ads, yet. After two months on line, we are approaching the 20,000 visitor mark. I have no idea how many are repeat visitors, nor where you come from. But I thank you for their coming and for your comments. I hope you trust what I write, even if you do not agree with me. Let me know if you disagree, however. That will, at least, advance the state of our thinking.
There are still many opportunities for us all. If, for example, you would like to write a reasonable blog related to mining, just contact us and we will set one up for you. If you want to send me the occasional posting, I will post it (if it interests me.) If you want to advertise, I am sure the InfoMine sales staff will welcome your call. If you have a new company, product, or service that would work for the mining industry, send me word, and in accordance with my interests & judgement, I may post a piece about your company, product, or service. No promises here, just my request for your information that I may use to promote better mining.
A word of advanced warning: Next week I leave Vancouver, BC to spend the spring with my children and grandchildren in Huntington Beach, CA, Las Vegas, NV, and Belle Plaine, IA. I will write and post on this blog by remote access. But the new postings may be intermittent. To maintain my commitment to InfoMine of at least one new posting a day, I have written articles that will appear daily on this blog; please forgive me if some appear less than immediate and totally current; they are not. And I will be out of immediate e-mail communication range, particularly on the farm where there is no TV, no telephone, and no internet. Thus I may be slow in responding. But I will be back in summer and then the pot will boil again. Thanks.
FYI: You’ll have to move your blog off WordPress.com to a new URL if you want to have ads on it; the only alternative is to join the VIP program at $250 per month and $500 setup fee.
we can’t wait to see you..have a safe trip dad!
