Assuming you have the weekend time and interest, here is a series of sources on mining that you may wish to explore.
Simple go to any old Google page;. I usually start with news.google. Then look up at the top where there is a list that includes web, news, and more. Click on the more button and see the scroll down menu that appears. Now click on the blog item. You will be taken to the Google world of blogs. In the keyword bar, type “mining”, activate, and hey presto you will see thousands of blog postings on mining.
To refine your search, go to the left of the page where you can specify the period of interest. Any period from the past hour to the past month. Anther refinement is to use the special search routine and exclude keywords like data and text. This eliminates all those blog postings on data-mining and text-mining, that have nothing to do with mineral extraction.
Be aware that not all postings are from genuine blogs, i.e., those eclectic, personal, opinionated views and perspectives. Many reputable newspapers and magazines, including the Northern Miner, post their stuff using blog software and so their writings come up via this blog search. No particular harm there. And maybe some benefit if you are looking for investment advice.
You can supplement your blog wonderings by going instead to the google news button. Again the keyword mining and selection of a period will give you a vast number of news items.
To give you some idea of how powerful this google service is: I posted this piece and three minutes later did a google.blog search using the keywords mining blog. Hey presto the link to this piece was there at the top of the list.
Enjoy.
