Friday reading recommendations:
- Anything by Alistair MacCloud.
- One or more of the short stories at the Whistler Writers Group.
MacCloud is a published Canadian author. A long time ago I read a magnificent short story by him about mining folk in eastern Canada. I cannot recall the name of the book or story, but seek out his works, for they are good, and worth the search.
Much more readily available, i.e., via the web and a click of the mouse, are the stories of a group of folk in Whistler. Seems they are mostly well-travelled, well-heeled, and have time amidst the spectacular scenery to explore their inner voices. Unlike us hack bloggers in the city–constantly churning and turning optics and opinions, like a well-oiled onion grinder. Still, some of the Whistler-originating stories are intriguing, with no pain (or mining) to perturb you.
Enjoy the weekend.
