Seeking the perfect job in Australia, I came across one that should tempt the stout of heart and bold of mind. Here is an edited abstract from the job description:
General Manager for a mineral sands mining operation within the Horsham Region in Victoria. Listed on the ASX, their business is developing technology for, and the production of, advanced materials and advanced chemicals from mineral sands. They have built up their business to become the largest zirconium chemical producer in the world. A General Manager is required for start up, commissioning and production of the process plant and mining operations. Duties will include:
- Build and startup the company’s mining and processing operations to achieve planned performance and profitability .
- Plan, manage and execute planning, product testing, process trialing, provision of infrastructure, plant construction and commissioning, trial mining, and full-scale mining and processing.
- Complete a definitive feasibility study and necessary expert reports for this study and for a prospectus for a planned capital raising later this year.
I know of one retired gentleman who could do this. He lives in Cape Town and does not like to travel. He is smarter and tougher than I am. Those are both attributes that will be required to undertake this job. I wonder what salary he would have to be offered to tempt him out of spending his days carting grandkids to and from school to take on this job? Maybe I will send him notice of this job and see if he is tempted.
If you are tempted, take a look at this link–sorry to have to spell it out, but the insert link function does not seem to be working just now. http://www.infomine.com/careers/
