As first cut, quick look at the salaries of people working on US mines in 2010. These data are from the most recent CostMine document 2010 Survey Results U.S. Metal and Industrial Mineral Mine Salaries, Wages and Benefits.
The following are some average annual salaries in thousands of dollars:
- General Manager = 131
- Mine Manager = 107
- Mill Superintendent = 103
- Chief Engineer = 100
- Metallurgist = 84
- Environmental Coordinator = 87
- Personnel Manager = 98
- Administrative Assistant = 41
- Secretary = 38
Salaries vary from underground mine to surface mine. Here are a few comparisons. The first number is annual salary for an underground mine; the second is for a surface mine:
- Mine Manager = 110/106
- Mine Foreman = 78/77
- Mine Geologist = 67/65
- Warehouse Clerk = 34/43
