Gold fascinates all of us. That us why there are probably at least one hundred blogs on the topic. Here is the link to a site that lists them all.
I am honored that this blog is listed in the MINING section. Thanks to Commodity HQ for compiling the list and noting this blog.
Looking at the list of blogs related to gold, I reflected that I once received a present of a heavy gold ring, topped by a 1.4 carat yellow diamond. I still have it many years later and wear it very occasionally. This past weekend, the person who gave it to me, mentioned the ring, which of course I did not have with me, and reminded me that I am supposed to pass it onto my son, for it is worth lots now, as she told me.
Funny things is that nobody else I know ever seems to notice the ring or comment on its value—cost is probably a better word. They are all too busy with their latest ring or bauble to notice mine. So why do I ever wear it if it catches nobody’s eye or anybody’s attention?
I suppose that I just like it. It feels heavy and solid, and glows rather nicely in the light of a candle. But I repeat, it gets me no attention or admiration. Just a deep personal feeling. As I reflect on the fact that if the economy crumbled, I would get nothing for it.
So I just go on reading blogs.

The two things most significant about gold’s appearance are its weight and colour. Having seen real gold, few people will mistake it for the fool’s variety. If given a chance to hold real gold everyone remarks on its weight. My father has a sample of quartz/gold from a BC mine. It’s full of wires heading in all directions. Although the entire sample is the size of my fist, it contains about 13 oz of gold by calculation. It is a marvellous sample, but far too large for a ring. Your diamond is impressive though!
