Here are some numbers on the compensation of executives of major Canadian mining companies. These numbers are from the CostMine 2013 Survey Results Canadian Mine Salaries, Wages and Benefits. The data is collated from public documents issued by ten Canadian majors.
The following are total compensation for the CEO:
- Maximum = $11 M
- Average = $6 M
- Minimum = $2 M
By comparison see these total compensation packages for the COO
- Maximum = $5 M
- Average = $3 M
- Minimum = $1 M
The top-paid President made $16,282,200. Here is the breakdown:
- Salary = $1.456 M
- Share-Based Awards = $6.470 M
- OPtion-Based Awards = $2.991 M
- Non-Equity Incentive Plan Compensation = $2.984 M
- All Other Compensation = $15.015
Amazing numbers. I would love to know how the “all other compensation” is made up and what it is based on.
We must recognize that the lowest paid President received a mere $11,500 “all other compensation.” So the range is vast.
We can but dream on. Or take a look at the annual reports to see if there is a correlation between compensation and performance.
