Risk analysis is the identification of an activity (or a group of activities in a project), and its evaluation in terms of occurrence and associated damages. In short it is the science of risk, and thus, today in the face of an increasingly analytical world we strive to apply scientific principles to better understand the potential implications of the decisions we make. Still on the theme of thirty-year olds in the work place. (See my blog posting below this one for an extended rumination on the topic of thirty-year olds in mining.) This afternoon two thirty-year olds came marketing. I must admire what they are doing. They are setting up and marketing a software company that specializes in geotechnical software. (more…)
